UECU’s President Receives the Executive Spotlight Award

In October 2011, Glen A. Yeager, President/CEO of Utilities Employees Credit Union
was presented with a 2011 Executive Spotlight Award by the
Eastern Pennsylvania
Business Journal. The Executive Spotlight Award recognizes eastern Pennsylvania
business leaders for their excellence in business leadership and community service.
Glen has served UECU as its President for 24 years, providing leadership and strategic
direction for all aspects of the organization and cultivating a positive work environment,
which has twice led to recognition as one of the Best Places To Work in Pennsylvania.
During Glen’s tenure, the organization has grown from seven to 89 dedicated employees
operating the seventh largest credit union headquartered in Pennsylvania. Today,
UECU serves utility, energy and related industry employees and their families in
all 50 states.
Glen also serves as Treasurer and Secretary of the UECU board of directors and as
Board Chairman for UECU’s subsidiary, AdvantEDGE Financial Services™, LLC, which
provides business services to other credit unions. His community involvement includes
12 years as a board member for the United Way of Berks County and more than 20 years
as the chairman of its audit committee.
Glen is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania and earned accreditation as
a Certified Chief Executive from the Credit Union Executives Society. He is a Cum
Laude graduate of Albright College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree
in Accounting.

In 2011, Utilities
Employees Credit Union received the
A+ Excellent Rating from
Weiss Ratings – an
independent firm that rates the financial strength of the nation’s credit unions,
banks and insurance companies. Weiss analysts use rigorous standards to measure
the financial soundness of institutions and their ability to withstand future economic
adversity. In this rating cycle, 5.7% of the nation’s credit unions were rated “Excellent”
with fewer than 1% scoring the highest A+ rating.
Ratings are based on measurements
including asset quality, capitalization, stability, profitability and liquidity.
An Excellent rating is given to institutions that maintain conservative operations
and underwriting practices demonstrated by a "strong equity base, top-notch asset
quality, steady earnings and high liquidity." Weiss Ratings has evaluated the safety
of financial institutions and investments since 1971 and began rating credit unions
in 2011.

5 Star Rating from
BauerFinancial Inc, an independent firm that
analyzes banks and credit unions. UECU has received the highest-possible award,
a 5 Star Rating, 21 years in a row, ranking it among the top 10% of the nation’s
credit unions.
Best Place to Work in Pennsylvania

In 2011, Utilities Employees Credit Union was named one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania
for the second consecutive year. The annual Best Places to Work in PA competition is organized by the
Central Penn Business Journal with its partners, the Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, and the Pennsylvania State Council of SHRM. The program is designed to identify the best places of employment in Pennsylvania and provide recognition for the Pennsylvania economy, workforce, and businesses.
CUNA Recognizes UECU’s 75th Anniversary
Utilities Employees Credit Union conducted its Annual Meeting and 75th Anniversary
celebration in 2009 at its new headquarters located in Wyomissing, PA, a suburb
of Reading, PA. Joining in the celebration were almost 300 members, suppliers, honorary
guests and employees who looked back on 75 successful years in the financial industry.
Glen Yeager, CEO and President of UECU for 22 years, was presented with several
awards commemorating the Credit Union’s 75th Anniversary, including a plaque from
the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
